I can’t image what it would have been like for my parents, in rural Manitoba in the 1950’s, having a child with a severe birth abnormality. Growing up in a hospital 4 hours away from my family led to long-term separation anxiety. My family was rarely able to visit, and when my mother did visit, she was not allowed to hold me. I imagine that must have been heartbreaking for her. I may have been young, but these things absolutely impacted my life, emotionally, mentally and physically, for decades to come.
While you may not have experienced a traumatizing experience quite as severe as my early years, we all have experiences from our childhoods that form us into who we are today. These young parts hold on to feelings and beliefs in ways that we might not understand until we very specifically focus on learning about our parts and what burdens them. I encourage you to spend time on yourself and work to become Self Aware.
