Travel Tuesday – Herefordshire, England

December 13, 2016 by John Falloon Leave a Comment

Sometimes I do things just to make people laugh. This cannon at Goodrich Castle in Herefordshire, England, was just too perfect of a photo opportunity not to stick my head in there! I mean, just think of the size of cannon ball that would have been shot out of that thing!

On being a “bad kid”

December 12, 2016 by John Falloon Leave a Comment

I was told that I was a “bad kid” a lot. But what does that even mean? For kids and adults alike, we create new definitions for words based on our experiences with those words. I talk about it more in depth in my book, but when I acted out as a child and was … [Read more…]

#tbt – My biker days

December 8, 2016 by John Falloon Leave a Comment

#ThrowbackThursday to my short-lived “biker” days- in fact, for a while, I sold bikes! Trail bikes like these ones gave me a way to spend time with my brother. My whole life I have been determined not to let the fact that I have two prosthetic legs slow me down. As a child, I was … [Read more…]

Travel Tuesday – Portmeirion, Wales

December 6, 2016 by John Falloon Leave a Comment

Designed in the style of Italian villages, Portmeirion, Wales, is truly a beautiful destination, with plenty of colourful hidden alleyways like this one. I love exploring new places, and am truly grateful for the prosthetic legs that allow me to wander through cities like this!

December 5, 2016 by John Falloon Leave a Comment

We spend a lot of time thinking about and working on our relationships with other people. But in reality, you will never have truly healthy relationships with other people until you stop and focus on your relationships with yourself.

Learning about Parts

November 8, 2016 by John Falloon Leave a Comment

Our Internal Family System (IFS) is made up of different types of Parts. First, we have vulnerable Parts that carry our beliefs and feelings from past experiences, beginning at birth all the way to the present. In IFS, these Parts are known as Exiles.  For our purposes, we will refer to them as our vulnerable … [Read more…]

If a dog was your teacher

November 1, 2016 by John Falloon Leave a Comment
bentley on rock

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog’s owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle. I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we … [Read more…]

Why don’t I know what I want to do with my life? Why can’t I figure out what I want to take in school? Why can’t I commit to a job or a career path? Why is it difficult for me to commit to life decisions? Why am I not brave enough to do what … [Read more…]

Why can’t people get along?

October 22, 2016 by John Falloon Leave a Comment

How is it possible that three completely different species, stereotypically known to dislike each other, can get along? In the video below, Gregory Pike explains that it’s not too good to be true. Aside from being a delightfully uplifting story, this video holds special meaning for me. I believe that the same principles can apply … [Read more…]
